Only candidates with 10th/Matric/SSLC qualifications are eligible to apply for this post; those with higher educational qualifications—such as a Degree, Diploma, or Engineering Degree—or individuals who have previously worked as railway apprentices are not eligible under the Apprentices Act.

Eligibility Conditions:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu and name registered with the local employment exchange.
- Identity cards or service certificates of railway employees’ children must be attested by a Gazetted Officer; additionally, copies of the UMID card and PPO must be submitted as proof.
- Seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) on a trade-wise basis. To avail this benefit, candidates must have at least 40% relevant disability.

- Candidates cannot change their trade once it has been allotted.
- Document verification will be based on the 10th/12th/ITI mark sheets.
